03/01/3050. Day 41, 06:30
An Exocoetidae Transport VTOL touched down under communications silence, and turned out to be a Delta model. It was carrying a number of new battle armour suits designed by Professor Anna Morozov as part of Special Project 17.
During a weapons test of the new suits, Professor Anna Morozov revealed to Samara Hellstrom, Lieutenant that her project was in response to a the NAIS effort to use battlesuit technology to make the Infiltrator aka the Waddle. She had acquired a sample, now a gutted wreck and of little use but a training dummy. The professor had also obtained classified design files on the ‘other project’ she was competing with. The Special Project 17 suits were focused on mobility, protection, and battlefield effectiveness where the Infiltrator failed in all those regards.
During the activity Ruin Dmitar was faced with a ghost, a man who looked like his fallen comrade Damyan Radkov. But the man was Assosciate Professor Dmitri Radchenko and initially denied knowledge of Damyan Radkov. Ruin Dmitar had last seen him in a body bag, shot in the eye and (to all appearances) dead. Once there were fewer witnesses, however, Dmitri confirmed that he had survived and had later orchestrated to have Ruin Dmitar implanted with one of the copies of the stolen HPG source code while Ruin was in the infirmary due to a prison fight.
Jacques Dubois was suited-up and given a chance to try out the battlesuit and to test the weaponry. The professor had made effort to give anti-battlesuit weaponry as well as anti-infantry weapons and an ability for a squad of battlesuits to threaten battlemechs. Tactical options for using the new technology were discussed.
Hints were made that Commstar and the enigmatic ‘Clans’ had access to battlesuits long before the current Federated Suns suits were ready. Dmitri Radchenko claimed that as Damyan Radkov he had an alterior mission while operating under Captain Samantha Chase and then Ruin Dmitar which included acquiring the source code and apparently included engagement with Commstar battlesuits at that time.
03/01/3050. Day 41, 17:30
After the revelations Ruin Dmitar attempted to withdraw to calm his nerves and to think. Later Samara Hellstrom, Lieutenant found her Sergeant and informed him she was putting in recommendations for promotion for her lance. Unfortunately Layne-Lars Kinnesson’s bad reputation with the NAIS and their close ties to the high command of the AFFS meant her recommendation would likely fall on deaf ears.
The pair exchanged some of the new information they had acquired during the day before the lieutenant commanded her subordinate to the medical area for a scan. A small device that could have been a datachip was implanted against the skull at Ruin Dmitar’s left temple, the location that Dmitri Radchenko had indicated earlier.
No attempt to remove the chip was made at that time.
