Olympus and Elysium

The twin continents of Olympus and Elysium are two separate highlands with a midlands continental bridge. The twin continents were settled when the upper class of Strata began to feel that Old Olympus (now Daedalus) was becoming too crowded. The duchy ruling Strata refused to relocate. out of respect for tradition, and remain seated on the continent of Daedalus. This necessitates the duke or duchess to travel frequently between Daedalus and Olympus.

Olympus, also known as New Olympus and the Ivory Tower, is a rocky pinnacle rising above the clouds and home to the parliament and civilian government of the planet. The Halls of Elysium are a large luxurious complex built into the upper reaches of the peak . The Halls of Elysium is supplied from Elysium by airship.

The second settlement on Olympus is Delphi, located roughly half way between the clouds and the peak on a secondary summit. Delphi is the main Hyper Pulse Generator center of the planet and a ComStar monastery and reliquary. The facility was relocated when the seat of government moved.

Elysium is a more normal plateau continent as opposed to the anomalous mountain that is Olympus. The highlands are dominated by manors and estates as well as garden-forests. The idyllic continent is the home of the upper class and the nobility of Strata. The only people other than the upper class who are permitted to live in the highlands of elysium are those serving as farm laborers, or agromech industrial mech pilots and technicians. The collective name for these sprawling estates and carefully-scenic villages (established for ambiance and to house farmers) are the Fields of Elysium.

Only a portion of the highlands is used for a city, the upper portion of Horae city which includes an airship dock, townhouses of the rich elite, the town halls and a range of arboretums, zoos and botanic gardens. Horae city extends into the midlands in the single clearest example of the social strata of the planet, with the blue collar and white collar populace housed there along with all facilities and industries, even those supporting the wealthy elites in the highlands and on olympus. The upper airship port is dedicated to personnel transport, meanwhile cargo airships dock in the larger airship port in the midlands.

Ganymede is the collective name given to the many towns in the midlands of Elysium and Olympus, and is strenuously rejected by the inhabitants of those towns and villages. The name is viewed as a symbol of the Elysium upper classes exploitation of the middle and lower classes, since it is essentially a collective name the upper classes gave to the settlements supplying the highlands.
