Design House Rules

The following design house rules are in effect:

1) Quad Battlemechs can be constructed with a “conventional chassis” or “advanced chassis”. A “conventional chassis” is the standard weight (10% of total unit weight for standard, 5% of total unit weight for endo steel), as presented in the Battletech Tech Manual and Technical Readout supplements. The “advanced chassis” uses the quadrupedal nature of the battlemech to more efficiently bear the load, allowing weight saving in design (5% of total unit weight for standard, 2.5% of total unit weight for endo steel). Mechanically, this duplicates the effect of endo steel (half chassis weight) but requires no critical slots (though a quad ’mech already has 12 fewer slots than a bipedal mech).

2) Gauss Weaponry does not explode or require CASE. Cinematic / Thematic electrical discharges will result, and the unit will become ‘charged’ rendering the battlemech easy to detect, and stealth equipment (such as ECM) ineffective. The ‘charged’ state will continue until the battlemech pilot makes a successful sensor operations roll to ground the charge, an attempt at a grounding roll may be made in the electronic warfare phase at the start of each combat turn, starting in the round after the gauss weapon ‘discharges’.

3) Hellstrom’s Hellions Auxiliary Vehicle Compartment. One critical slot, leg-only, weight zero ton. Capacity one vehicle, weight up to one ton. The weight of the vehicle is taken from the battlemech’s carrying capacity (as if using a hand actuator). A critical hit to that location will destroy the auxiliary vehicle carried within. Limit four total vehicle compartments or extra cargo compartments per battlemech or industrialmech.

4) Extra Cargo Compartment. One critical slot, leg-only, weight zero ton. Capacity one ton of cargo, weight up to one ton. The weight of the cargo is taken from the battlemech’s carrying capacity (as if using a hand actuator). A critical hit to that location will destroy all cargo carried within. Limit four total vehicle compartments or extra cargo compartments per battlemech or industrialmech.
Note: If used to carry ammunition, CASE is ineffective at containing an ammunition explosion caused due to heat or a critical hit. As such, this is not recommended.
