Chloris Continent, Agricultural Center.
The continent is also known as the prairie continent and the farm continent. It was established after the colonists spread to Olympus and Elysium which had been a candidate for a agricultural continent but was under-utilised once it turned into a political center for planet Strata. At the time Daedalus was becoming an heavy industry focused continent (despite its bulk food production), and Tyche was becoming dedicated to aerospace industries, giving an opportunity for Chloris to take over as the primary agricultural center of Strata.
The highlands of Chloris are dedicated to farming, the midlands are used for logging and farming as well as harvesting water. Chloris imports water from Ares continent but the demand is decreasing as Chloris becomes more established and its water harvesting infrastructure becomes more developed. Chloris is dependant upon the heavy industries of Daedalus continent and the airships manufactured on Tyche continent, as the industrial capabilities of the continent are fledgeling and also intentionally limited. It was the intention of the founders of Chloris that their continent would remain dedicated to agriculture and not follow in the footsteps of Daedalus and Tyche becoming ever more industrialised.
The two main cities of Chloris are Hestia and Demeter.
The city of Hestia is on the northern border if the highlands has come to be focused upon habitability and comfort. The trend appears to be a reaction to the cities of Daedalus which had developed into high-density hive-cities. Hestia’s northern section’s aesthetics are styled after a port city, and then the cloud-height is right it forms a ‘sea’ of cloud. The eastern southern and western sections make excellent use of the terrain to form beautiful low-density suburbs and manors. Hestia’s role is mainly administrative and it serves as the continental capitol.
As the name suggests Demeter is focused on supporting the agricultural efforts of the highlands, processing of the produce, and transportation of the goods. The main continental airport is located in Demeter. The city is centrally located serves as the continent’s main transport hub with a series of rail and road links from Demeter to Hestia and the farming towns set up through the highlands and midlands.
